{"id":72,"date":"2017-10-09T15:29:05","date_gmt":"2017-10-09T19:29:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/old.kenanfellows.org\/2018-lhorne\/?p=72"},"modified":"2017-10-09T15:29:05","modified_gmt":"2017-10-09T19:29:05","slug":"careers-galore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.kenanfellows.org\/2018-lhorne\/2017\/10\/09\/careers-galore\/","title":{"rendered":"Careers Galore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"m_7902487896737296432p1\"><span class=\"m_7902487896737296432s1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-73 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/old.kenanfellows.org\/2018-lhorne\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/282\/2017\/10\/careers.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/>As a science teacher, students typically ask me questions about two career categories: Education and Science\/Engineering. \u00a0I often have students that are interested in science but do not necessarily want to make a career out of it. \u00a0Many are unaware that there are many other jobs that could involve science that are not &#8220;science&#8221;. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_7902487896737296432p1\"><span class=\"m_7902487896737296432s1\">For any student that has a slight interest in science, it is possible to incorporate that into a career that does not fit your typical science mold. \u00a0At PlyGem I worked with individuals whose careers fit your expected idea of a science job (material science engineers, lab technicians) and those that did not: sales representatives, project supervisors, marketing, and product line work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"m_7902487896737296432p1\"><span class=\"m_7902487896737296432s1\">Previously, when asked about jobs that contained a little bit of science, \u00a0I would talk about former students that have gone on to become lawyers that focus on environmental law or wildlife artists\/photographers.
