August 17. \u00a0The day had come. \u00a0I was absolutely exhausted from the setup of my classroom, and there was still a lot to finish. \u00a0It was difficult to leave it to go set up for a party but I promised to help the Google Fiber Space get ready. \u00a0Using both the indoor tech space and outdoor atrium, there was a lot to do. \u00a0After about 4 or so hours of setup, we were ready to host the 50 teachers\/facilitators\/district leaders that had registered.<\/p>\n
4:00 struck and 3 teachers I did not know came walking in! \u00a0I know free appetizers and beer are enticing but to have parked and walked to the building to be there right at the start, I was shocked. \u00a0Thankfully, everything was ready to go. \u00a0As time passed, more and more people started showing, some I knew and many others I did not. \u00a0Everyone had the same reaction to the STEAM-To-Go kits though; they loved them! \u00a0But the real question was, would they actually sign up to use them?<\/p>\n
After 3 hours, and all was said and done, we had about 65 people attend the event, more than what registered! \u00a0Everyone really enjoyed themselves. \u00a0The highlight of the night was the genius bar with hands-on opportunities to try out the Animation and Coding kit and the Music and Circuitry kit. \u00a0The teachers that I spoke to while “playing” all said they could see the kits being used in their classroom. \u00a0Once again though, would the kits be signed out and used?<\/p>\n
So far, I know of one official sign up and another teacher who is having trouble signing up, but nonetheless, is signing up. \u00a0That teacher has actually asked me to lead a station with 1 of the kits at her school’s upcoming STEM Night. \u00a0Honestly, I’d be happier if a few more people had signed up to rent a kit by this point in time. \u00a0But I’m keeping my hopes up that more teachers will take advantage of the STEAM-To-Go kits in the next few weeks. \u00a0.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
