{"id":31,"date":"2018-06-26T15:36:13","date_gmt":"2018-06-26T19:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/old.kenanfellows.org\/2019-cfolgerhawks\/?p=31"},"modified":"2018-06-26T15:36:13","modified_gmt":"2018-06-26T19:36:13","slug":"summer-institute-professional-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/old.kenanfellows.org\/2019-cfolgerhawks\/2018\/06\/26\/summer-institute-professional-development\/","title":{"rendered":"Summer Institute Professional Development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>We had a 5 day professional development learning experience at NCCAT in Cullowhee, NC from June 18-June 22, 2018.\u00a0 This was an amazing opportunity!\u00a0 Among the many things I learned was how to use social media tools such as Twitter for a Professional Learning Network and other tech tools such as blogs, Google Tools, GooseChase, and INaturalist.\u00a0 An interesting part of the PD was learning our own Myers-Briggs personality type and strategies on how to work with others based on their personality type.<\/p>\n<p>I enjoyed the Branding session and worked to create my brand based on input from others.\u00a0 I am a positive educator that maximizes student potential for career matchmaking!<\/p>\n<p>Other PD that I will put to practical use was on digital portfolios, project based learning, and culturally relevant pedagogy.\u00a0 We had such deep, rich conversations about these topics and this helped me to reflect on how I can put this to use as a Career Coach.<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday was a lot of fun as we explored Cullowhee while completing a team scavenger hunt using GooseChase.\u00a0 This would be a wonderful learning experience for students around their school!<\/p>\n<p>The entire PD was an enriching experience that I will be able to use as I implement Agriculture awareness in the classroom.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_32\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-32\" style=\"width: 225px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-32 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/old.kenanfellows.org\/2019-cfolgerhawks\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/310\/2018\/06\/river-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/old.kenanfellows.org\/2019-cfolgerhawks\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/310\/2018\/06\/river-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/old.kenanfellows.org\/2019-cfolgerhawks\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/310\/2018\/06\/river-768x1024.jpg 768w, https:\/\/old.kenanfellows.org\/2019-cfolgerhawks\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/310\/2018\/06\/river.jpg 1511w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-32\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">I&#8217;m in the Tuckasagee River learning how to use kick-net&#8217;s to learn how to collect samples of aquatic macroinvertebrates!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We had a 5 day professional development learning experience at NCCAT in Cullowhee, NC from June 18-June 22, 2018.\u00a0 This was an amazing opportunity!\u00a0 Among the many things I learned was how to use social media tools such as Twitter for a Professional Learning Network and other tech tools such as blogs, Google Tools, GooseChase, &hellip;
